Freeman 3.5″ Backcountry Pocket Hunter OD

In stock

The stonewashed CTS-HXP stainless steel 3.5″ drop point blade features a main flat grind with a thick secondary swedge for maximum toughness and piercing ability.

Additional material on the blade spine near the tip creates a small thumb rise and provides a secondary indexing surface for extra control during delicate cuts.

The blade is heat treated to a hardness of 60-61 Rc and the cutting edge is ground razor sharp at a 34 degree included angle (17 degrees per side).

The handle scales are CNC machined from tough epoxy laminate G-10 with milled grooves for a secure and comfortable grip. The handle shape provides an ergonomic and balanced grip for use in multiple positions. Stainless steel hardware locks all the components into place. The press-fit lanyard hole tubing through the pommel is sized for the included 1/8″ shock cord lanyard and secondary retention method.

The custom Kydex machined and thermo-formed sheath features a secure and tight friction fit with multiple attachment points. Includes two Maxpedition TacTie PJC3 Polymer Joining Clips for belt carry or Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) attachment methods.

Note from Jeff: I designed this “no-frills” knife over 8 years ago to be used on long treks through the backcountry while hunting elk. I wanted a blade that was small enough to be carried in a back pocket or mounted unobtrusively on a pack. Something that would be sturdy enough to field dress an elk while minimizing space and weight, while maximizing utility. Over the years, I have made small batches for myself and hunting buddies and have refined the design to the point where I feel it is ready for the market. Another knife made here in Brownsville, Oregon by FOG with all American made materials.
