Szilaski Large Boot Knife

This knife is by ABS Mastersmith Joe Szilaski.  I bought this knife from Joe at the Blade Show is 2006,  It has set in my safe since, NIB never carried or used.   Joe is best known for his award winning forged knives and tomahawks he also makes knives by the stock removal method. This knife is referred to as a midtech because he has the blanks cut by waterjet rather cutting each one by hand which would likely more than double the cost of the knife. This was designed to be a reasonably priced self defense knife and fill that role well.  The knife is a very elegant design with beautiful lines and grinds.  It is made from .160″ thick D2 tool steel hardened to 60Rc with textured and machined G-10 handle scales.  The blade is 5 ” long with an OAL of 9 3/8″. It comes with a Kydex sheath and Bud Nealy’s patented MCS ll System, which allows for a wide array of carry options.
